I’ve been listening to Lord Huron for a couple of years now and I honestly didn’t know if it could get much better than their 2015 album, Strange Trails. I fell in love with the romantic yet macabre tales they spun and how atmospheric their sound was. Now Vide Noir has come out and I feel like I’ve been on a cosmic journey across the MIlky Way ever since.
Keaton Simons’ voice is unique to me in that it provides familiarity. Each song kind of takes you back to a particular time in your life. For me, it’s a feeling of being home. After moving across the country, his music kind of gave me a nostalgic feel.
Shadow of Whales is unlike any other band I’ve seen in Austin, and I’ve seen a lot of bands. I remember I was at a night at local-hang Cheer-Up Charlies when this colorful, energetic band caught my attention.
*repeat repeat is sure to be on repeat (get it??) in your mind after you listen to their addictive beats. I spoke with frontman, Jared Corder, about the group’s beginnings and their new music. The group is comprised of Andy Herrin (drummer) and Kristyn Corder (vocalist/keys), and Jared, of course.

“Don’t correct people. Even if you know you’re right and the other party is wrong, just do this as a everyday courtesy. You know there’s Google. Chances are they’ve already looked it up.”
Robinson’s song “Don’t You Forget About Me” is one of the loveliest songs I’ve heard. The light piano and her haunting vocals will play on and on in your mind. The video already has over a million streams.
