It's clear that we adore Mason Ashley, she has this abilty to perfectly capture a feeling. Her new song "Ever Had You" is dark pop at its finest and we are digging the aesthetic of the new video.
First things first, tell me about your new song "Ever Had You”
Mason: Ever Had You is a dark indie/lo-fi pop song about the confusion and doubt that comes from an unstable relationship. It is a song that I wrote in one night, and it felt so personal that I swore I would never let anyone hear it...clearly that didn’t happen! The song really just begs the question of: Do we ever really know the person we are with?
What has been inspiring you lately?
Mason: I’m in a very transitional stage of my life right now. I’ve been inspired by the change and growth I’ve seen in myself and my friends. Most of us are in our early twenties and somehow in such extremely different places in our lives, but all still trying to figure ourselves out and find our place in the world. I’ve tried to push myself lately by expanding my knowledge, experiences, and taste in music. Being a writer is really cool because you get to look back on the songs you’ve written and think “I’d never write that again...but I’m glad I got that song out of that specific moment.” It’s like a never ending diary.
