Phil Good has created, and excuse the pun, feel-good pop music. His latest, “Put It All On me” is the perfect upbeat melody to help get you through the toughest week of your life. It’s having your favorite comfort food on a single track. In the world of pop music, Good is creating his own lane with the electric punk and indie vocals.
Phil, tell me about the single, "Put It All On Me."
I wrote ‘Put It All On Me’ for my girlfriend who is also an artist. There was a time period where she would come home from the studio or from meetings and just feel so defeated. I will never understand or experience what a woman goes through on a day to day basis, especially in an industry as messed up and ruthless as the music industry, so all I can do is be there for her and let her vent or cry or get angry when she needs to.
Where do you draw your inspiration for your music?
All over! Friends and peers, art and music that I like, live shows. I’d say my friends provide me the most inspiration for sure. I know so many insanely talented people and they’re all incredible in their own unique ways. So seeing a friend perform or hearing a new song from them really excites me and inspires me.
Who are some of your favorite pop artists at the moment?
Right now probably Troye Sivan, Sylvan Esso, Honne, Bleachers, Kiana Lede, Baynk, Finneas, Billie Eilish and Lauv.
Who is an artist you'd love to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with Sylvan Esso. I think her lyrics and melodies and his production is just insane and I’m such a huge fan.
What's next for you this year?
This year I’ll be putting out a couple more songs, a music video or two, and play a few shows around LA. Then in 2019 release a ton more and hopefully tour a bunch too!
