"All I want is money and peace." - Lorine Chia's amazing new video has a simple message but one that only she could convey in such a unique way. We talked to the up-and-coming artist about the new video and what keeps her motivated.
How did you get started in music?
Lorine: My dad plays the guitar and sings. He always inspired me to do the same. It was so genius to me the way he created songs. I guess I wanted to be as good as him.
Tell me about your new song “$ and Peace” what’s the story behind it?
Lorine: The song is about really wanting 2 basic necessities most people need in life to be successful. Money and Peace. Money to facilitate my dreams and peace to keep me happy.
What has been inspiring you lately?
Lorine: Life has. It’s been a crazy year and I’m constantly inspired by current events from politics to my social life to how the earth is reacting to us destroying it for so long. There’s always something to analyze and understand which inspires me to keep searching, going, moving.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in the music industry?
Lorine: The biggest challenge would be getting the people I want to support me to actually support me. It’s so crazy that strangers will support you more than the people that know you.
How do you stay motivated?
Lorine: I wake up every day and think of where I don’t want to go back to.
What’s your best piece of advice for young women?
Lorine: Do things to please yourself and not anyone else. Believe in yourself and love yourself. It is key to bringing forth your elevation and don’t ever give up on something worth the fight and the wait.
