Jackson Harris: This Time It’s Different

Jackson Harris’ track “This Time It’s Different” is the perfect bubblegum pop soundtrack. Co-written with our favorite artist, Phangs, it’s the perfect track for the new year. After opening for acts like Fifth Harmony, Zara Larson and Cody Simpson, it’s time for Jackson to have a sound of his own.

This new single is a bit of a different sound for you. What was the inspiration behind “This Time It’s Different”?

Jackson: It was a combination of trying out some new sounds and exploring some emotions that I had never really written about before. I was just starting a new relationship when I wrote this song and I think that’s really what made this song different.

You’ve toured with some of the biggest names in pop music (Fifth Harmony, Zara Larson, Betty Who). Do you have any favorite tour memories you can share?

Jackson: I’ve been lucky enough to tour with some amazing musicians. Every day was filled with music and laughter and a lot of hard work. Every night I would find myself standing on the side of the stage watching these great artists perform and I would try to soak it all in and learn how they connected with their fans.

You’re known for your lyrical honesty. Do you always write songs from an autobiographical perspective?

Jackson: I think my lyrics always come from an honest place because I’ve always loved music that allows you to really get to know the artist personally. Naturally, when I’m songwriting, I want to be truthful with not only the listener, but myself. It’s about digging deep and using my personal experiences as a source of inspiration

What’s up next for you?

Jackson: I just released my new song “This Time It’s Different” and I’m hoping people can enjoy it while we are all doing our best to stay home and safe during these times. This quarantine has pushed me to write more music and focus on how to connect with fans in this new landscape. I’m taking it day by day and hoping that soon I will be able to go on tour again.

"At 15 years old, I begged my mom to take me to Walmart to get Taylor Swift's debut deluxe album and I never turned back. This was my very first entry point to stan fandom. Growing up in Memphis, Tennessee I was exposed to a ton of music - from rapping 3 6 Mafia to bopping to Justin Timberlake's solo discography. Now, in LA have a day job working in nonprofit development, but by night, I'm a full-fledged fangirl. I'll listen to generally any genre, but I'm a sucker for a good pop song. If you ever need someone to scream sing Carly Rae Jepsen's E·MO·TION with, I'm your girl. No, I still have not gotten over the One Direction hiatus. Please continue to respect my privacy.
