G Flip is definitely an artist you need to know. They perfectly juxtapose vulnerable lyrics with chilling, gorgeous production that all comes together so perfectly. Everyone in their new video for "Waste Of Space" is non binary including the director and the producer. G Flip is on a mission to change the face of the music industry, we talked to them about the new song and what's been inspiring them lately.

When was the moment you knew you wanted to be in music?

G Flip: When I was 9 years old and was given my first drum kit by my auntie and uncle.

Who were your biggest inspirations growing up?

G Flip: My drum teacher Jenny, my Dad, and my music teacher, Gavin Cassidy.

Do you remember first concert you ever went to?

G Flip: Justin Timberlake

Tell me about “Waste of Space” what’s the story behind it?

G Flip: "Waste Of Space" is the story about me struggling with understanding my gender identity at a young age.

The video feels so different, how did it come together?

G Flip: The song is very raw and emotional. It speaks about my gender identity. My creative director is also nonbinary so they were very connected to the song as well. We wanted to make the most authentic piece of art to represent the song and the nonbinary community so we came up with a simple concept of using nonbinary people who have gone through similar journeys to tell the story of "Waste Of Space."

What has been the biggest challenge for you in music?

G Flip: Being a perfectionist. I'm very hard on myself.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

G Flip: My dad believing in me.

What else can we expect from you this year?

G Flip: More tunes and more fun!

Keep up with G Flip on Instagram and Spotify.
