Remy Garrison is just getting started, her song "Sorta Kinda Maybe" is so sweet and her voice is just amazing. We can't wait to see where she's headed. We talked to the up-and-coming songstress about being different and what's been inspiring her lately.
How did you get started in music?
Remy: I have been singing as far back as I can remember! When I would sing, I would make up melodies and lyrics and my mom would always ask me who I was singing and I would say it was just me. Lucky for me, she thought they were good and let me start recording. I started traveling back and forth between Birmingham and Nashville to write and eventually, I made the moved to Nashville.
Tell me about your song “Sorta Kinda Maybe” what’s the story behind the song?
Remy: The story behind “Sorta Kinda Maybe” is when you love someone but you’re afraid to tell them because you don’t know if they love you back.
What has been inspiring you lately?
Remy: A lot of things are inspiring me right now - from makeup to fashion to other artists I look up to and of course my family.
What’s been the biggest challenge for you in your music career?
Remy: The biggest challenge in my music career is probably trying to break through and be different to everyone else in this business.
What’s your best piece of advice to young women?
Remy: Being different when you are younger can seem like a negative but as you get older I think it sets you apart in a good way. So embrace your unique self and follow your dreams. The world needs you!!!
