Zoe Ko's new song "EAT" is so fun. It's campy and colorful and all the things you want pop music to be. We talked to her about the inspo behind the song and the direction behind the wild music video.

How did you get started in music?

Zoe: I’ve been singing and writing songs my whole life. I was an only child and growing up and still now music feels like my best friend.

Tell me about "EAT!" What's the story behind it?

Zoe: I really wanted to write a song about the phrase EAT!! And about going out, partying, and dancing with my girls in New York City. I even reference my favorite club in New York - House of Yes! It’s also kind of a sexual innuendo almost the whole song which is just a fun double meaning.

I love the video! It's giving Kesha!!! Can you tell me about your vision for it?

Zoe: Yesss love Queen Kesha! I just really wanted to have a food fight to “EAT” so we figured out a good narrative to land on a food fight scene by the end of the song.  So, naturally a kitschy dinner party felt right.

What artist has been on rotation for you lately?

Zoe: Chappell Roan!!

What else has been inspiring you?

Zoe: No Doubt! Gwen Stefani! Lady Gaga and so many more.

What has been one of the biggest challenges for you in your career?

Zoe: Honestly comparing myself to other artists around me. Comparison can be deadly.

What keeps you motivated?

Zoe: My fans motivate me so much! They keep me going! I’ve always loved music and I will forever so just getting to make more music excites me. And now getting to play more shows motivates me since I’ve gotten over my stage fright significantly!

What's your best piece of advice for young women?

Zoe: Be so kind to yourself. And loving yourself for all of you is so important <3 go for the dream that feels impossible.

Keep up with Zoe on Instagram and Spotify.
