Shayla Souliere’s “Let Me Go” instantly hooks you. The song is so catchy and full of energy. We talked to Shayla about what’s been inspiring her lately.
How did you get started in music?
Shayla: I have been singing since I could talk. Literally! However, I would say I professionally started in the industry around 2013. I was part of a singing competition in Edmonton Canada called “Edmonton Undiscovered” and from there it grew!
Tell me about your song “Let Me Go”
Shayla: “Let Me Go” is a higher energy pop song. I love to have the opportunity to release music that has a message, but also allows people to dance and have fun! “Let Me Go” is about being with someone who is constantly playing games, and you just want a commitment from that person!
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Shayla: I have had the opportunity to do many things! But, I think one of my top highlights is when I had the opportunity to premiere one of my last singles on the “Musical.ly Stage” at Vidcon!
What has been one of the biggest challenges for you as an artist?
Shayla: One of the biggest challenges for me as an artist is wanting to have more of a local following back home. But because I live in the prairies, it is very country/folk-based and I find it is harder to market my pop music.
What has been inspiring you lately?
Shayla: Every person who has said “No” to me or hasn’t believed in me!
What is your best piece of advice for young women?
Shayla: Girl, be the best you! Don’t let people tell you who you should be, how you should look, etc! God only made one of you for a reason. So own it <3 🙂
