An Honest Review of Float Fest 2018

On social media, this festival looked really promising. Incredible acts, river floating, camping, cheap VIP tickets; it had everything it needed to be a really wonderful time for the attendees. However, that’s not what I and many others experienced.

Planning For Float Fest

emilytreadgold #2, Festivals

In less than two weeks it will time for another summer festival – Float Fest!

If you somehow aren’t familiar with Float Fest, it occurs every summer in the lovely city of San Marcos, Tx, offering the chance to go tubing with your best buds before the performances start at 2. p.m. Different from more traditional festivals, this one allows you to have your cake and eat it, too. Festival goers have the option to spend the morning tubing in the San Marcos river, a common past time down south, camping the night away after the festival, and enjoying performances in the later afternoon/evening.

New Music Alert: Andreas Moss New EP

emilytreadgold #2, Premiere

I’m constantly blown away by the artists I’ve gotten to talk to and Andreas Moss is no different. He’s bold, honest and nothing is off limits when it comes to his life or his music. I’m so thrilled to premiere his EP to the world. I haven’t stopped listening to it for the last week. I know you’ll all be just as obsessed as I am.

New Music Alert: Anna Dellaria’s I Choose Me

emilytreadgold #2, Premiere

There is nothing I admire more than a female with a powerful voice- both as an artist and as a person. When I previewed Anna’s “I Choose Me,” I knew I had to talk to her and we had to be the ones to premiere it first. I’ve been told multiple times I’ve been too aggressive or too assertive when it comes to going after what I want, and after speaking with Anna, I find so much comfort in knowing she’s the same way. Seriously, this is going to be THE song you listen to when you get out of bed to start your day and conquer the world.

Talking Astrology With The Most Emotionally Intelligent Person in Electronic Music, Madame Gandhi

emilytreadgold #2, Features

Kiran Gandhi is quite possibly the smartest person I’ve ever met. In addition to having been a live drummer for M.I.A. and establishing her own name as a solo artist and producer (she goes by Madame Gandhi), she also has an MBA from Harvard, which is proof enough of her genius. But what I learned hearing her speak on a panel at Seattle’s Pop Conference is that her intellect goes far, far beyond academic learning. Gandhi was so insightful, so passionately logical and sharp and observant about the ways that our culture dismisses and denigrates femininity, that I knew I had to talk to her one-on-one to learn anything else I could from her.
