It would be difficult for me to find a band I’m more emotional about than KITTEN. When I first saw them at SXSW two years ago I became addicted.I’ve never seen a lead singer like Chloe Chaidez, who seems to sing so powerfully while also contorting her body on stage and maintaining a showmanship that the most iconic rock stars would envy. It was hypnotizing.
SXSW is hell week, but in a good way. This year I was planning a day party (girls to the front) as well as doing press which means a ton of interviews every day and getting videos and live-tweeting. I drink 5 hour energies nonstop and think all together I ate 3 slices of pizza for the 7 days total and I walked more than I’ve ever walked. It’s exhausting but so rewarding.
Chloe Chaidez is whispering to me the entire time we talk, she needs to save her voice for the show. She whispers, “My dad was a musician, he was a drummer so he introduced me to a lot of great bands. I was a gymnast so we’d have these long drives to my gym and he’d play records and it was something I really gravitated towards.”
