I pride myself on finding new music before my friends, so imagine my surprise when I realized that underground turned pop duo, SIGMA, had been around for about the last decade creating music. The duo is comprised of Cameron James “Cam” Edwards and Joseph Aluin “Joe” Lenzie.

LANY: The Kinda Tour

Ever discover a band and you wish you were the only one who knew they existed? That’s kinda how I felt about the Los Angeles based trio, LANY (pronounced lay-nee for those who didn’t know). The trio is made up of Paul Klein, Lee Priest, and Jake Gross and they were the focal point of my summer soundtrack. The guys made a stop in Memphis, Tennessee during their tour, so of course I had to go. They played at the 1884 Lounge at Minglewood Hall and had a very intimate show. Klein, the frontman of the group, even made a point to bring up how lucky they were to play in a small city such as Memphis.

We Go There Together: Find the Deep Purpose with Son Lux

If you have not yet acquainted yourself with the musical divinity that is Son Lux, you should do so immediately. In fact, it’s quite possible that you have already stumbled upon them by accident: the music of Son Lux – the trio composed of primary songwriter, keyboardist, and wordsmith Ryan Lott, guitarist Rafiq Bhatia, and drummer Ian Chang – was sampled heavily on recent songs by Fall Out Boy and Halsey, covered by Lorde, and featured in the film Paper Towns just to name a few notable pop culture appearances. No stranger to being the man behind the curtain, founding member Ryan Lott has composed music for everything from commercials to films to dance choreography, although he says that Son Lux began as “a way to explore some of [his] creative urges that weren’t being satisfied in other pursuits musically.”
