Findlay Is The Femme Rockstar You Need In Your Life

emilytreadgold #3, Features

I’ve looped “Electric Bones” on my phone for what seems like my entire life at this point. Also, if you know me and you know this video you’ll recognize that Findlay is literally THE girl for white power suit inspiration. Natalie Findlay has toured with Iggy Pop, Karen Elson, and Brandon Flowers. She was also personally asked by Mick Jagger to play the Serpentine party in London. I just have such a soft spot for badass rockstar women. Her sound is a little rock, a little pop, a little garage and a little blues, but she’s ballsy af and cooler than I’ll ever be.

My 2018 SXSW Diary

SXSW is hell week, but in a good way. This year I was planning a day party (girls to the front) as well as doing press which means a ton of interviews every day and getting videos and live-tweeting. I drink 5 hour energies nonstop and think all together I ate 3 slices of pizza for the 7 days total and I walked more than I’ve ever walked. It’s exhausting but so rewarding.

Mosie’s Tasty Tangerine

Mosie’s debut album Tangerine dropped during SXSW and the duo’s future funk jams are delightfully easy to move to with the combination of synthy vocals and energizing samples. Singer/songwriter Jesse LeVines and musician/producer Aidan Brody have created wicked musical hooks with surprisingly intimate lyrics that is sure to catch attention, even from those who aren’t in the electronic scene. Throughout the album there major switches between tempos that tosses you from one beat to the next without becoming tiresome. However, the standout feature is the way Mosie layers the human voice with a variety of melodic effects.

Hellooooooo spreadsheets. So here’s our spreadsheet, Sorry it’s incredibly confusing. Since we’re throwing a day party this year (RSVP and hang out with us if you haven’t) our schedule is a little different. Now, as far as SXSW goes, as a local, I know my maps, but I always back a strong backpack filled with phone chargers and 5 hour energy.

You Need To See A Mobley Show Now

It’s hard for me to describe a Mobley show, you really have to be there. He’s a one-man act, during the show he plays the guitar, the drums, literally everything, and he does it without missing a beat. This isn’t even the thing that impresses me the most, the production and the music both are astounding. His songs will be stuck in your head for days on end. I mean it when I say he’s the next big thing, not only in Austin, this is national.
