New Music Fridays are probably our favorite holiday – and lucky for us, it comes every week! I wanted to highlight a few of my favorites that were so good that I had to tell you about them.
Robinson’s Haunting Vocals And Lyrics Are Unforgettable
Robinson’s song “Don’t You Forget About Me” is one of the loveliest songs I’ve heard. The light piano and her haunting vocals will play on and on in your mind. The video already has over a million streams.
Cobi Is The Guitar God Of Your Dreams
Growing up with a strong passion for blues and classic rock, Cobi is on a path to resurrect the guitar solo. His music is super unique; a bit of gospel with a strong R&B influence mixed with classic rock. Cobi received his first guitar as a gift from a family friend when he was just a kid. He was self-taught, learning to play by ear, and by the age of twelve Cobi knew music is what he wanted to pursue. His musical influences can be traced back to Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Bob Dylan. We sat down with Cobi at Hangout Fest and picked his brain about going viral on Spotify, his upcoming album, and why music should stay in schools.
FOXTRAX Are Your New Driving Soundtrack
To me, nothing is better than driving with the windows down playing some feel-good music, and FOXTRAX is the perfect artist to supplement this. The trio is comprised of Ben Schneid (guitar, keys, and vocals), Jon Stenz (drums and percussion), and Jared Stenz (bass.)
The Rocketboys Come Full Circle
I’ve been hearing about The Rocketboys for a long time. They’re a staple of the Austin music scene. I caught them at Mohawk right before their sold-out show for their newly released “Certain Circles.” This album really demonstrates their maturity as a band and shows them coming into their sound.
LANY’s Debut Album Is Sheer Perfection
Sam: I have to credit my two friends, Wade and Trey, for convincing me to listen to Los Angeles-based trio, LANY. LANY’s songs are exactly what you would imagine California is like. No matter where you see them perform, you’re instantly transported to the west coast. My first LANY experience was intimate, lustful, and just real. Paul Klein’s presence, with Jake Goss drumming and Les Priest providing synth beats, created one of the most personable performances I’ve witnessed. Not to mention each lyric that echoes from Paul is ridiculously relatable.
New Music Alert: Kris Angelis’s “Kevin Bacon” Video
We are so excited to premiere the new Kris Angelis video for “Kevin Bacon” it is such a cute video and we loved talking to her. Watch the video and read about her songwriting process.
Sigrid’s Vibe Cannot Be Killed
As an avid cat meme enthusiast, I’m glad Norwegian pop star, Sigrid, can relate. Since breaking the U.S. charts with her single, “Don’t Kill My Vibe,” she’s been to countless cities to perform her music. She’s so humble and credits her team for their hard work and promoting her music on platforms like Apple Music’s Up Next Program. “It’s been really helpful, and most importantly – crazy fun,” she says.
Finn Matthews’s Julia Will Be Stuck In Your Head All Day
As soon as I heard “Julia” I was hooked on Finn Matthews. The song is so catch and the video is colorful and lively.
LP’s Lost On You Is The Best Album This Year
I was beyond nervous to talk to LP, I’ve been almost obsessively listening to her album Lost On You since it came out. I say this without hesitation, it is my favorite album this year and it would take a lot to knock it down. I was so excited to see her at Hangout Fest that I made my friend wait with me for two hours in the burning heat at 2 p.m. because I just HAD to be front and center. It was an amazing performance, LP delivering those crazy vocals flawlessly, twirling her microphone in the air and casting a spell over the entire audience. I was mesmerized.
